with the demise of NZBMatrix and possibly several more usenet indexer sites, it’s time to go private.
Browser add-on/extension that brings lots of really nice functionality to Reddit.
So you’ve bought iTunes Match, which gives you access to shiny new 256kbps AAC versions of your audio files. But by default your iTunes library is still packed with your old files. So how best to upgrade all of those old files, in place, to the new versions?
Here’s how to do it—keeping in mind that you can only do this after you’ve completely turned iTunes Match on:
Looking to extend your favorite trusted source of choice (dropbox synced text files and dropbox-savvy text editor)? Check our Elements, it does everything my current fave “PlainText” does, but allows for rich editing and exporting of many different formats.

“It remembers which drives should be mounted on which networks and mounts them accordingly when you boot or resume you Mac.”
sure you could write some scripts to do this for you, but it’s a $5 app. isn’t your time worth more than that? probably not.

Airlock allows your Mac to lock itself, plain and simple. Using your iPhone, Bluetooth® wireless technology, and a smidgen of pixie dust, Airlock determines whether you’re near your computer. When you leave the room - poof! - your Mac locks itself. “And when I come back?” You guessed it: your Mac unlocks. You can also customize Airlock to perform specific actions as you come and go - have your computer talk to you, log-in or out of iChat, walk the dog, and such. (via Welcome to The M.H.A.)

The Unarchiver is designed to handle many more formats than BOMArchiveHelper, and to better fit in with the design of the Finder. It can also handle filenames in foreign character sets, created with non-English versions of other operating systems. I personally find it useful for opening Japanese archives, but it should handle many other languages just as well.
It is very simple to use and install - simply copy it into your Applications folder or whereever you prefer, and then set archive filetypes to open using it. This can either be done the usual way, or by double-clicking the icon to show The Unarchiver’s preferences.
Supported file formats include Zip, Tar-GZip, Tar-BZip2, RAR, 7-zip, LhA, StuffIt and many other more and less obscure formats. The goal is to make The Unarchiver able to extract anything you give it. The Unarchiver uses the libxad unarchiving library to support many older, obscure formats.
Better use of TimeMachine: Back-In-Time (Information)
Back-In-Time offers an easy access to all data that was backed up by Time Machine. With Back-In-Time, you can discover any available data in the backup, and easily copy files and folder to any location of your choice.
To see all the backups of a file or folder on your Mac, simply drag it from the Finder and drop it in the Back-In-Time item list. Choose the version you want with the date slider, and restore it with a single click. Or drag and drop to restore to a different location on your Mac (including external disk drives).
Restore anything from a single file to an entire disk. Back-In-Time can rename the current versions of your items to avoid overwriting them.
You can even browse and restore from Time Machine backups created on another Mac.
Enter iCab Mobile, a self-described “little brother” to the venerable iCab browser for the Mac. iCab Mobile’s tab handling not only makes reading such sites a breeze, but offers perhaps the richest feature set of any iPhone browser, Safari included. That’s a strong statement, but after using iCab Mobile for the last few days, I think it’s well-earned.
